McCoy the Pintail Decoy By Pat Garber

McCoy the Pintail Decoy is a make-believe story about a lonely boy living on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, and a hunting decoy his father buys him. The boy comes to love the decoy which, while not alive, develops a feeling of love for the boy as well. Later, when set out in the water to lure in real ducks, McCoy learns to care for them as well. He is faced with a great decision when he relizes the ducks are about to get shot. His decision is a teastament to the power of love and heroism which can bring a plastic duck to life and bring happiness to all.
